Managing Email can be tricky however cPanel provides an easy to use interface to manage all aspects of your email accounts. It is important to remember that since Email is constantly changing, it is not included in the backup of the server. Mail should be regularly downloaded to a personal computer that is regularly backed up. Our policies also prohibit storing large amounts of mail on shared server accounts. We ask that accounts on shared servers limit their accounts to 2 GB on the server and we strongly encourage that you regularly download the mail. In addition to downloading your mail regularly, it is also recommended that you frequently change your password as an added security measure.

We have included the steps to take to create a NEW email address in cPanel below:

To create an e-mail account in cPanel, follow these steps:

  1. In the EMAIL section of the cPanel home screen, click Email Accounts.

  2. Click Create.

  3. From the Domain menu, select the domain where you want to create the e-mail account.

  4. Enter a new email address in the Username text box

  5. Select one of the following options for the password:

  • Select Set password now, and then type a password in the Password text box.

  • Alternatively, select Send login link to alternate email address, and cPanel sends a message with login information to the specified e-mail address.

6.  Next to Optional Settings, click Edit Settings.

7.  In the Storage Space section, enter a custom mailbox quota storage size, or select Unlimited.

8.  To automatically create folders for plus addressing, select Automatically Create Folders.

9.  To send a message with client configuration instructions to the account, select the Send a welcome email with instructions to set up a mail client check box.

To Change an Email Users password in cPanel:

  1. In the EMAIL section of the cPanel home screen, click Email Accounts.

  2. Locate the account you want to modify, and then click Manage.

    • To access the account’s webmail, click Check Email.

    • To change the account’s password, under SECURITY, in the New Password text box, type the new password.

For security reasons, you should occasionally change e-mail account passwords. You should always change an e-mail account password if you think an unauthorized user has accessed the account. When you change an e-mail account password, make sure that you also update the password in your e-mail client application (if you are using one). Otherwise, you will not be able to access the account.
